A cow drinking trough, also known as a cattle drinking trough, is a
large container holding drinking water for cattle. It is typically
placed in fields, pasture areas or on a farmstead, close to where
the cows are kept, to facilitate easy access to clean, fresh water.
Water can be contained in the trough by gravity feed from a source,
such as a well, a stream or pumping station, or it may be delivered
to the trough using a water truck. A lid may also be placed on the
trough to limit access to the water and to keep it clean from
debris, or animals such as birds.
